pROGRAMS
We offer a progression/development model, based on the lessons we’ve learned from our kids, their friends, and their heroes. While our oldest members are at “the tip of the spear,” we also remember where they started, so we have tailored options for young beginners (Little Rippers), budding riders who may be juggling other passions (Recreational), honing their breathing and muscles (Training), starting to race (Competition), and hoping to ride hard year-round (Elite).

All our programs have some things in common, plus some unique details:
– We all meet at Elings BMX on Monday nights for focused training on foundational skills that improve ALL riders, and we get some social time with the entire club, including coaches, parents, and the older kids. Plus, it’s tons of fun.
– We have local team-level rides during the week for dedicated trail time (mostly on Wednesday afternoons). Some times we stack teams, but for the most part, we spread out for more focused coaching and minimized trail impacts during those brief afternoon daylight hours.
– Our older kids have longer Saturday rides, in a slightly longer timeframe that opens the door to longer trails, shuttle rides, and even destination rides outside SB.
– Depending on what a rider wants to do, we offer different blends of Spin, High Intensity Interval Training, and Resistance Training, in a variety of local gyms on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings.
– For kids who want to race, we support a number of SoCal race series, with coordinated camping, on-trail and off-trail coaching, and general information and coordination support for families.
– In EVERY CASE, participation is optional, there’s no penalties or guilt trips for ditching to surf, and we will never bench your rider if they miss practice.
Our goal is to help each rider improve, grow, and push themselves, wherever they start and wherever they want to go. We don’t objectify outcomes, we don’t care who’s fastest, and we all support the idea that healthy people have varied and often shifting interests. Every rider is unique, and we will never push someone where they don’t want to go. We are here to develop skills, confidence, relationships, and healthy habits. Come ride with us.
We function as a volunteer organization to keep costs as low as possible. All club functions are performed by parents and supporters, and we count on all our families to contribute however they can. Financial assistance is available, please reach out.
